An unappreciated classic!
This is easily one of the best war movies of the 1950's and holds its own against a lot of more modern films. It is both gritty and deep. The direction is good, the story is excellent, and the character development is complete. There are a lot of more famous movies from this era with big name stars in them that don't hold a candle to this one.

Nice
This is one of my favorite books and I never realized it had been made into a movie. Its hard to believe this is such a little known movie,without a doubt one of the better 50's-60's war movies I've ever seen

Sweet!!!
I hadn't seen this movie in years. This movie was a low budget WW2 movie and a good one. Not alot of fighting but a good story-line with action comparing to the series combat. Glad i got 2 see it again. This is the stuff that I wanna see. Direct TV should dig up some of these old war movies,series and replace some of that crap they show over and over. Pretty bad when you have 2 go online to find something worth watching.

A gem of a movie
I have never seen this war movie, and thought I had seen all the good ones.

Story aside (which was great - and I agree with viper4000 on the characterization), what this movie gives that so many of the others don't is a glimpse into pre-WWII American life. Sure, it's a movie's portrayal of it, but nonetheless, it was good stuff.
