Well Done
It was a little slow half way through but sure did it pick up towards the end.

A Good Look into History
Coming from a small town in Connecticut, I was pleased to find this gem of a film which depicted small town Bridgeport, CT and the trial of an accused.

The acting was Grade A and the film moved in an interesting and entertaining fashion while not compromising the historical evidence.

I only wish more films were clean, yet cutting today. And I'm one who was born well after the 60s.

A Lesson for Our Times
If we could only have guaranteed that recent US Attorney General appointees would be as equally motivated as was Homer Stille Cummings to not be swayed by politics in his pursuit of justice. Such integrity should not be the exception to the rule in government and law. This film successfully portrayed the complexity of solving a case correctly as well as many hurdles to doing the right thing. A truly great cast guided by one of our most important directors and tireless advocate for the promise of the American way of life, Elia Kazan. A tip of the hat to Daryl Zanuck for helming this moving picture.

Terrific Drama!!
I have to agree with dumbsdread right below this review. This is an outstanding police drama from start to finish. Great actors like Dana Andrews, Lee J. Cobb and Karl Malden excel in this type of film noir, made on location in Bridgeport, CT. I loved it and didn't move until the film was finished. Why can't they make them like this anymore?
