Doesn't Hold Up as Well as Other De Palma
Director Brian De Palma was at his best when playing homage to Hitchcock in the 1970s and 1980s. "Body Double" and "The Fury" are two highly entertaining thrillers, so I was enthused to see "Dressed to Kill" for the first time in a couple of decades. Unfortunately, it doesn't compare to those aforementioned films. I think part of the reason is the lack of a strong central character. Nancy Allen has to carry too much of the pic on her own; she's better as a supporting performer. Keith Gordon's character has promise, but disappears for a long stretch. In the end, we're left with an obvious homage to "Psycho", brightened only by the occasional De Palma stylistic flourish.

oh yeah oh yeah...
this was way better than the "horror" movies coming out these days, although nowhere near hitchcock. but in all fairness. I give this a really high five for this kind of standard. i liked it. the english guy mr. canne is awesome. very good, better than M. Night Gay man's gay films.

i'll go with - "good but not the best"
although the twist is pretty obvious - at what point depends on the viewer, i guess - this is still a pretty good movie. michael caine is a great actor, and this role seems to suit him. a few parts of the movie seemed to be completely irrelevant to the plot, however. way better than the "horror" movies coming out these days, although nowhere near hitchcock - in all fairness, a really high standard for a movie genre though.
