The new movie?
Yeah im 15 and when i was 5 my parents bought me this movie. i swear i had to watch this movie 20 times. i lost the tape and im glad that i have found this. the new movie that came out, was ok i guess. i mean its not the speed racer i grew up to know. It seem way overdone on the colorful cartoony side. if that makes sence. i mean i donno. The cartoons back in the day were way beter than the crap on nickolodian and cartoon network. there is no moral value, or even a little hints of some adult content in the background for all to enjoy. its mindless stuff that doesnt teach u anything. this movie is great. sure u can hate on it. sure its realy old. but does that matter? i watched movies from the 30s and up. if they arent unbareable i can watch it. it doesnt need that up-to-date spark or special effects to make your eye balls pop. but i mean this is my opion and people are going to dissagree with me but thats okay because i was entertained. and thats what movies and shows are for. pure entertainment

Classic "car" story telling from the 1960's...
To rebut the other reviews, first OF COURSE this is OUTDATED. The series is based upon the racing scene, serial episodes and cartoons of the 50-60's. To call it outdated, now, in 2008 is inane and insipid. Speed Racer was a program that, at the time, popularized the intense racing and muscle car culture of the US and even Japan at the time. I can easily say, this is a 'toon of REAL car guys/gals. No real lover of cars, or car culture dislikes "Speed Racer". Yes the dubbing was off, this was originally a Japanese series with a quite different focus. Its asking a lot from unimaginative people of current times, but as a kid, in the late 60's early 70's this was pure gold. What other TV show gave us a chance to revel in the hot sports cars, races, and racers of the era? Whats amazing is so many here (the haters) have no understanding of this particular 'toons place in history as it effects todays culture. Believe me, many many of todays current popular trends, cartoons and the like would of never been without "Speed Racer". Simply nothing like it of the time, not then and not now. I won't claim any part of this being high intelligence or high art, just good darn fun. Fun to watch, and fun to be part of. I fell sad for those haters that don't know or see the difference.....

real movie
i liked the real movie better, a lot better. can't stand the cartoons. i suggest watchin the real movie.

3-yr old loves it
My 3-yr old loves cars and racing. He loves this movie as much as "Cars"
