I loved their first six songs. The characters are supposed to be a band that isn't very good, but the actors can flat out play. And the characters are interesting. I've enjoyed watching them evolve. Sarah, for instance, went from not speaking at all and hiding from the camera to throwing down rap in episode 14.
As for the inevitable comparisons to The Monkees (because the members weren't a band until cast for the show), there is no real comparison. I watched The Monkees when I was growing up, and the shows were all slapstick comedy with a couple of music videos mixed in. I seem to recall them having a mannequin named Mr. something or other they used to talk to. The All-For-Nots are something completely different. They're real people - real indie rockers who can also act. I usually find myself wishing the episodes were longer. I studied abroad ten years ago with the actor who plays Johnny, and he kept us entertained with his singing and playing. It's great to have a chance to see him perform again. Cheers
