Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star It's a sad commentary on the modern media …
… that the only American news source that doesn't insult its viewers' intelligence, and that actually provides sane, sensible, critical commentary on our nation's politics, is a half-hour satirical comedy show. We'd be a much better country if we got rid of all those cable news networks with their arrogant yet vacuous (and often moronic) pundits, and replaced them all with Jon Stewart.

I've really enjoyed seeing Thn Daily Show and The Colbert Reprt on hulu. I'm scared that it was a temporary thing since last night's shows aren't up yet. Please bring it back! Especially now during the convention.

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star My biggest problem with this show is that it is only 20 minutes long
The Daily Show has "thrown a shroud of protection over Barak Obama?" They mock him all the time. I would watch this show just as readily if it was called "We Pander to Liberals & Attack Conservatives without Scruple" -- in fact I'd buy the series on DVD. Since Ronald McReagan nixed the Fairness Doctrine, opening the door for faux newsies like Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity, The Daily Show has been the most brilliant possible reaction and response.

Okay, in response to all the people bickering over which show is better: I definitely believe that the Daily Show is a "greater" show than the Colbert Report, but it's not "better" per se.

I get my news from the Daily Show, which is the only source I trust, and while I watch it I laugh at the fallacity of our politics, media, and economy, and wonder at the intelligence and insight of these people, who should be taking over the news networks, and desperately wish I could meet Jon Stewart so that I could lick his boots.

When watching the Colbert Report, I laugh, and laugh, and laugh at the fact that our country is in such a state that this kind of humor can be made up at their expense, and come off as very true. And then I rant about how Stephen Colbert should be elegible for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy.

And the excecution of the Report is just as good as the Daily Show's, with extra spice and quirkiness. But no one would schmooze over Stephen, saying he is the most trusted man in America, because he isn't as GREAT as Stewart, even though he's as funny and trustworthy. They may seem similar because fake news isn't that common on television, but in reality they're very different shows.
