The show was not canceled because a rap group sued, or because they didn't want to jump the shark. It was canceled due to low ratings. Fox scaled the number of episodes back and that is referenced by the housing order being cut in the show.

You mean the rap group? Please tell me they aren't the reason the show got cancelled. Did they really sue them for defamation or copyright infringement? I really actually liked songs like "Tennessee" and "Mr. Wendal". I'm about to delete their material from my iTunes if this is true...

I don't have TV! So I couldn't have watched this show even if I knew about it while it was on the air. Thanks to hulu, I can enjoy it whenever I want! Yay!

One of the most brilliant episodes of the series - full of self-referential jokes and allusions to the show's (sadly) impending cancellation. References to HBO and Showtime (the latter of which was rumored to be picking up the show at that time, which obviously fell through), the series' own actual "Save Our Bluths" website, and to the show's usage of complex running jokes and storylines that tended to go over non-regular viewers' heads. Also lots of great satire of the gimmicks other shows often use to boost ratings (including overly dramatic advertisements and "live" tapings) - very sharp writing all around. I can't imagine another show pulling off this level of meta-humor as well and as smartly as this one, while still managing to be true to its characters and being flat-out hilarious all the way through. Bravo, AD! Now if only you'd come back ...
